Greetings, All
I just read the "Goodbye E46" posting below, and I have to report that the Law of Conservation of E46s is alive and well. For everyone that leaves the fold, someone new steps in. My wife and I just picked up a 2003 330ci about 3 weeks ago, our first BMW. After years of fighting a losing battle with little British sports cars, we finally made the jump to Bavaria. My wife is amazed that a car can be both a blast to drive, and comfortable as well.

I have already installed the UGDO, the Euro warning triangle in the trunk and the first aid kit under the seat, and I have just received the modified CDV in the mail from Zeckhausen to bring the clutch back to reality. Now I need to see how I can order the alarm upgrade kit, the CD changer, the Sirius radio, and a hands-free phone without my wife complaining that we are spending too much money. After all, I can't have unused wiring harness connectors just lying around in the car doing nothing, can I?

Cheers,
Paul Kile

Welcome aboard! The E46 platform is just now opening to people who can't afford brand new BMW's (me included!). Expect to see E46's on the road for a LONG time, it's a very classic and timeless body style.

Hi Paul

I totally agree with your and i am also a proud owner of my first BMW E46 325i. And I must say it's not dead yet , although BMW has launched their new E90 line. I truly believe that E46 is one of the classic cars designed by BMW and not to mention it's power and comfort. And it's here to stay forever

Congrats and welcome aboard.

1) You car is pre-wired for the alarm system so you can definitely add that.
2) As for the CD Changer, I believe the majority of the wiring is already there. In addition to the changer there is a mounting bracket that you will need to buy. Since I have the Nav system, everything is already there so it an easy install for me.

Give the guys down at PacificBMW.com and call.

Thanks for the info, guys. I decided to install the Alpine CD changer, so I ordered the changer and adaptor module from Logjam Electronics. $350 was better than $550 from the dealer for the factory unit. I did a bit of snooping behind the trunk liner and found that everything was in place except the small L-brackets that mount to the changer itself. I bought those from my local dealer for about 4 bucks apiece, and the install went very well. The modified CDV also went in without any drama, and what a difference it made!

I will probably have to hold off on the alarm system and the other stuff for now - I've got income taxes to pay first!

Cheers,
Paul Kile
