Howdy! and Welcome!

I can't speak a word of Chineese, but I won't speak for everyone here. I'm sure that everyone will overlook your English, and possibly help you out a bit with it.

Nice car! [thumb]

Ni hao and [welcome]

Glad to see they allow BMWs now. I coulda sworn that the last time that I was there, they only allowed the Chinese made cars (Buicks and VWs).

ignorant fool. push, sometimes i am so close ...

ruirui, welcome to our bmw community. sorry, but as vlad said, i don't speak a word chinese either. as far as your english is concerned, don't bother, we'll get that straight.

nice car btw. one question, i know from singapore that people are very keen on getting certain numbers on their plates and certain numbers they try to avoid. 4 measn bad luck and death if i am not mistaken and 8 is wealth and health. is that known with you too?

Yes.. the last time I saw anymore move in China was a tank and it killed a university student [V] .. not really sure what other cars they have there besides that.
Push, please give people respect and get out of Ohio more often. If you would travel more often overseas, you will learn to speak to people about their interests and not their government. The same as we are not responsible for a lot of people's actions in our own country. When someone comes onto this board from another country to talk about BMW's and he expresses his excitement over his BMW, let's wish him well, congratulate him and help him all that we can. This is what brings diversity to people, this is what brings peace among people. Let's not show our overseas visitors how ill advised some of us really are. There's an old saying, its okay if I talk about my family, but if you say something about my family, its time to open up a can of whoop ass......

Sometimes you really say some profound things for a 19 year old and I applaud those times and think what a really cool 19 year old you are. At times, you are a very articulate and intelligent person. Then sometimes, I just want to thunk you on the head and say "what were you thinking?"

I think it doesn't translate as well in Mandarin. In Singapore, they speak like 4 different languages, including Cantonese. The numbers sound like certain words in Cantonese. Looking at Riuriu's plate, I'm not sure what the 7 means (prolly nothing), but 984 means always or forever making money to death. That's a VERY nice plate. 9 means always or forever (sorta), 8 sounds like money, and 4 sounds like the word death.

Here's a breakdown of what I know the numbers to mean:

1 = always
2 = easy
3 = birth (a good thing to Chinese people)
4 = death (usually bad unless used as an adjective(?) like in teh above example)
5 = no or not
6 = always or continuing
7 = no meaning I think
8 = money/making money/etc.
9 = forever

My family's plates usually have a combo of 28 or 18 or 168 or somethinglike that in them along with my last name.

Indeed welcome!

I lived in Beijing long time ago. And my GF is Chinese Indonesian. So I'm connected. [fake]

Ni Hao! I can't really speak Chinese either, but my friends can. So if you have to say something in Chinese, I can have it translated to the rest of the folks here.[thumb]

Nice car! Don't be afraid to post questions and impressions. We will help out as much as we can.

BTW, BMW's either already or soon-to-be produced in China as well, so we are Global now. [driving]
