Hello I am new here and I thought id let everybody know that this forum is the most helpful around!

I have a question (I have already tried searching forums) What are the differences between the models between 99-01 in the 3 series?? Its all confusing to me! They changed numbers. And not just the engine sizes (but that too)

Any help is appreciated Thanks in advance

I do know that the 01 is different than the 99 because I had a 01.

I have only noticed very minor exterior differences in those years. I think, ( i might be wrong) the front end of the car is little different on the 325/330i (sedans) with rectagular fog lights instead of the circle.

I also noticed that they had a little thin black antenna mounted on the roof. Only other difference I know of is the obvious badge designation of 323/328.

Sorry I'm not sure if there are any performance differences in those years.

I would keep checking back, Im sure evenutally the members of this board will give you plenty of info to make an informed decision.

'99 was the first year production of the E46 platform in North America. Starting with the 328i and 323i.

The 328i was a 2.8 liter straight 6 pushing out about 190hp.
The 323i was a 2.5 liter straight 6 pushing out about 170hp.

In 2001 they axed both the 323i and 328i then introduced the 330i(3.0L 220HP) and reintroduced 325i(2.5L 190HP).

This is not to mention they offered these models in coupe trim which added the "c" to the moniker. Example 330ci.
