Earlier this spring right after I took off my snow tires, I remember hitting a killer pot hole. I didn't notice any damage to the tire or rim, but a couple weeks later I noticed a slight vibration when I drive over 65. I brought my car to the dealer on friday for the recall on the climate control, and told them to take a look and see if they can figure out where the vibration is coming from. Of course they told me I have a bent rim, and want $620 for a new one (includes mounting tire from old rim).

Does anyone know if the rim can be repaired?

Or someplace else to get a new one?

I don't know the # for the rim but its the front rim on the '03 330i ZHP.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Whaaat? Sounds like a tie rod, not a warped/bent wheel!! I think you should get a second opinion, because even though with the slim profile tires, it shouldn't be THAT easy to bend a wheel. I'd get the alignment checked first...

It's really easy to bend a wheel - I have bent two on pot holes. You can get them repaired and at a fraction of the cost of a new one. The dealerships do it all the time with the trade ins they get.

Any tire/wheel place can repair bent rims. I had snow tire rims repaired recently after I swapped them off for the season, they are just steel rims so I didn't care so much who did the work, just went to a discounter and they banged it out nice and straight, cost me $20 to do 2 rims. The dealer wouldn't repair the rims and wanted to sell me a new set of rims at $90 each (just steel rims, come on!). For ZHP rims, they can also be repaired at any rims shop. I would probably at least have them looked at to see if repair can be done before shelling out for spanking new ones.
