On two different occasions recently, I've noticed a sopping wet front passenger floor, that seems to occur after we have a heavy rainfall. This sounds like some kind of leak to me that is coming into the car from the engine area and ends up on floor of the front passenger side. Could this be coming in from behind the dashboard area? Nothing else in the car is wet, but I think it's definitely coming from somewhere in the engine area........

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem? I drive a 2000 328i in northern Va. Thanks in advance!

Could come from the firewall, but I actually suspect a leak from higher up. Dry it out, then take a hose and run it on the car while you sit inside and see if you can find the leak. A carwash might work too cuz the high pressure spray might make the leak more obvious.

Check the door seals, bad/broke/missing door panel clips, and/or check the sunroof drains for a clog or for the sunroof drain tube coming loose or coming off.....

Could also be overflow from the air intake plenum from the A/C / heating unit due to clogged plenum drain holes.

But, first check the sunroof drains - it's a fairly common source of leaks when one of the drain tubes comes unhooked.
