Hello great people of this board. I have a question about this car for sale. It's an '89 325. I was wondering what's the difference between a 325 and a 325i. I currently own an '89 325i but looking to buy another. So is this 325 the same as my 325i? This 325 has 150k miles, white, 5speed, dual exhaust tips, 4 doors. Is it worth $2200? My main concern is wether it has the same power as my 325i. Please help me out. Thanks a lot, - Andy.

So can you please tell me the specs of this 2.7l engine? Like HP? Torque? Reliability? Thanks for the help. Is 150k miles a lot for this engine? My 325i has around 125k miles.

325
-121hp
-170ft-lb

325i
-168hp
-164ft-lb

Both are reliable, with regular maintainence of course, same as any car.

Just remember that the 325 and 325e both have very low redlines, the exact number I'm not sure of.

Yea isn't the 325 carbeurated? I know the 325i is fuel injected (thus the "i"), and at the time, it was still relevant to production. As for now, I think BMW should drop the useless "i".

... Ben & MrFerg's posts are the only ones that are gonna help this guy.... but what's gonna help the most is the fact that there's NO SUCH THING as an '89 325... at least.. not from the factory

ALL e30's are fuel injected... none are carbureted

the eta engine (m20b27) found 325/325e/325eS, which were built up untill '87 has a 5k rpm rev limiter (4500 red line)

the SUPEReta (variant of the m20b27, that has a few more hp) which is found in the '88 325 (no 325e or 325eS) and has (i'm not 100% sure on this) a 5600 rpm red line w/ a 6k rev limiter...

now for personal experience... i have an '87 325 that just turned 176k miles... i've had VERY little problems w/ it... It's not as fast as a 325i, but i enjoy it alot... just gonna have turn it into a "2.7i" in the spring [driving]

everyone really needs to take a GOOOOD look at fred kim's site that Ben posted above. It's got alotta good info on there [thumb]

also the super eta made 127hp. :)

Just run the vin man. People who dont know bimmers just call all of them 325. He might have an 89 325i and he is calling it just a 325. If its got the big shitty lookin aluminum bumpers and its not been modified then its an 88 325. Super eta.

Actually it doesn't have the chromed out bumpers. It has a "regular" bumper and the tag on the back said "325" with no letters. I would have to check out the rev redline though. Forgot to check that. Will these spank civics/integras like nothing? What mods can be done to make them quicker? Thanks guys.

I just checked it out. It has the same instrument cluster as my 325i. I have a feeling that it IS a 325i now. Redline 6.3k. Yes, 325i kills civics/integras like nothing. d=0 ) I have a feeling I'm going to double the trouble by owning 2. Is 150k miles a lot? Any problems to look for when I ask for a test drive? I'm going to offer $1500. What is a reasonable price for it? The only problem areas I see from an eye examination is that the front bumper seems to have hit a curb of some sort. It has a slight bent upwards in the center. One of the exhaust tip is bent from the original position. Interior seems nice 'cept for the shift boot which practically no longer exists. Seems to have a small dent in the radiator from the "hitting the curb" or something. Thanks for the help so far guys. -Andy
