help, we got robbed! glass replacement q's

my roommates car got broken into night befopre last and we had to get a new drivers side door window. he has an 84 318i 2dr and I just opened the box of glass. the glass dosn't have a cleat or anything so I'm unsure of how to go about replacing it. I havn't opened up the door yet so I don't know how the glass attatches to the regulator.. and I am really unsure about how to pull the door card. any help would be appreciated. we're going to try and do the repair tonight.

ok now I have arm rest removal questions, it's the last thing holding the door pannel in place.

I'm super confused as when I was sticking the screw driver in the hole at the bottom of the arm rest it didn't seem to bottom out at a screw, like nothing was there. so wierd, its really dark out but we still want to get it done tonight, I'm going to go find my halogen work light.

hopefully somebody will post help by the time we get into the thick of things.

ok so the door card is out, I was just stabbing empty spots with a screw driver, the light helped me find the screws.... I have thse two aluminum bits with glass still in them that I need to put on the new window, any ideas about the placement of these, and how to get the old glass out of them?

is there a solvent or something that I need to use on these pieces that clip on the glass?
