177k on it. Tires 9k on them. Car was fine until I rotated tires. I cleaned
brakes, move back to front. Also have a leak in the steering rack so I
tried stop leak. It seems a few days later I have a loud hum that sounds
like it comes from the front, starts about 35 and gets louder.
I thought for sure it was the tires. No.
Then I said that f'ing stop leak is it, removed the belt, still hums.
Does not seem to be rmp related, at speed I step on the clutch with no
change in sound.
Any one have any thoughts??

Thanks Ryan,
It is an emotional rollercoaster. I feel very confident now that it
is the rf whl bearing. Sounds same if not worse on left turns and
much less of at all on right. So I am soo happy about this until I
open my Bently book and read that can NOT be replaced by themselves.
Now the confusion, I open the Clilton and it seems to be the way
I am familiar with whl brgs. Just have to be careful and tap lightly.

Have you ever done them??

I think you are correct in your diagnosis of the problem. I've had the same issue.

Wheel bearing and hub are sold as a single unit that is pressed onto the axle stub. When you see it you'll understand why. I actually like it from an engineering point of view.

Overall, it's a pretty straightforward repair. The trick is getting the old bearing off. The inner race tends to stick on the stub. Besides that it's about a 45 minute job. Other than the confusing statement, I think Bentley covers it pretty well.

Good luck.

Hey bichmgnt - you were right on, very good design.
I had to pull the hub and inner race, it is a light press fit.
Hardest thing was breaking the upper caliper bolt loose,
it would be much easier with a lift but it is done.
thanks
