I just bought an 03 330i with sport package- told it had performance package as well but can't tell? any way to know by looking at car?

also what are the best mods to increase horsepower for this beauty? I have the autostick. most of my pleasure is 0-70 accelation and the car is lacking 20-30 hp

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

You probably have the Sport Package. Check out your invoice, the code is ZPP. You can either have the Sport Package (ZPP) or the Performance Package (ZHP), not both.

Performance mods, hmm. Some popular ones are CIA ( cold air intakes ), remapping ECU ( Shark Injector ), Cat Back.

Personally, I think the only way to get out real performance is force induction ( Turbo ). You can reduce the 0-60 by .5 sec

yep have the sport with 18'' M wheels. any recomendation on cold air induction? I see a huge price gap and here anywhere for 7-25 hp gain. I figure that would be a good start if I can get that gain?

thanks for youru time! Marc

You will only get a couple of horsepower from a cold air intake. AEM makes an air intake for your vehicle for a couple hundred dollars and they have a solid reputation. Next step would be to go with an exhaust system and a chip, as Nataku suggested.

Non-turbo

There is a huge difference when converting your car with a turbo. However, if you decide to modify your vehicle with an intake, full exhaust, and even a straight pipe, the chances that you increase horsepower are extremely minimal. It is stated in many of the motoring magazines that such inventions as the intake adds approximately 3-5HP. In reality it is to my understanding that an intake really adds about 1HP. Samething goes for the exhaust, adding this to your car will not add as much HP as stated by certain companies and magazines. This is only my opinion and I can be wrong so research a little bit more if you are unsure of everyone's information. If you really want to add about 25-30 ponies I suggest saving a little money for a descent turbo. Good luck and god bless

In my HONEST OPINION I would leave the car alone... 235hp if its the zhp or 225 is just about all you'll get out of the car, if you wanted performance you shouldn't have gone with the 5 speed automatic...

The 330i 225hp does 0-60 6.9 auto and probably 6.75 with the zhp at 235hp. A regular 225hp 330i will do 0-60 in 6.3-6.4 seconds with a 6 speed manual and the zhp will do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds as it has 235hp and a different setup...

Why invest all that money into modifying the engine, when the transmission is the culprit.
