Ok, so the first picture is of the whole engine. My 85 325e with the 2.7L eta engine.
The second picture clearly shows the fuel filter (the bronze looking cylinder) in between the power steering reservoir and the brake fluid reservoir.
The third picture shows the filter sitting just below the brake fluid reservoir and the power steering reservoir (in the engine bay).
