Hi all
I was involved in an accident today where another car hit my BMW 320 I
se from the rear, I was stationary and he must have been travelling approx 20mph. His car looks a right-off but my bimmer only appears to have damage to the bumper and rear park assist sensors. However, I am worried about the rest of the car, I am sure the impact it was hit at may have caused other internal damage, has anyone got any advice or thoughts on this issue, am I worrying for nothing? One other thing, after I was hit steam appeared to be coming from under my bonnet, this eventually stopped. Thanks for listening

take it to a shop and have them check it over.
the chassis *might* be bent, although 20mph is tooo bad
drive on the highway and check to see if the alignment
is still okay...check if the car pulls to one side or the other

as for the steam, maybe some coolant spilled out pop
the bonnent and look

unfortunately these kinds of accidents tend to leave damages you do not see right away. as it was said, the chassis might be bent, or the monts of the rear fender are damaged (which is usualy the case as they absorb the energy, not the fender itself), then the exhaust system can be damaged. if the car hitting you hits the exhaust pipe, it will bend it. finally the beam that holds the trunk lock (or whatever that is called) can be bad.

That is at least all that happened to me once...thank god that it is 99,9% the one that hits you from behind who has to pay.

good luck
