HK system differences?

Is the amp the only difference between the stock and HK audio system? I didn't know HK made speakers (except the JBLs) and I don't ever remember them making head units.

The HK system comes with slightly better speakers, more speakers, and
more amplification.

It's an OK system.

You can probably do better for the $600 with aftermarket gear, if you
want to pull your whole car apart and potentially alter the factory BMW
look.

I'm big into audio, have a $15K home stereo, and went with the HK
system.

It's OK. I wish BMW had a third system available for a few bucks,
but no luck.

I'm not into tearing apart the car, so I'll live with the HK system...

It's good to know an audiophile thinks it's ok. My home system is modest. Since I play guitar (a little drums as well) I've come to gain a pretty good ear for the correct timbre of instruments (primarily acoustic) by gigging with peers.

At home I have a modded Rotel 955, Audiolab 8000Q class A preamp, Odyssey Audio Stratos and Dynaudio A50s. I wish it would image a bit better, and be more transparent, but the range is astonishing and dynamic.

My current mobile audio system is an Alpine 7995, two ESX Quantum Q75s, a pair of ADS AL6 components, and a single 12" Image Dynanics in a sealed .88 wedge. Fairly well tuned and damped, it sounds solid.

Thanks for your opinion.
