My old one has a stone chip in it. If that rock had hit a few inches to the left or right, I think I'd have a huge gash in my hood. I'm just putting another blue and white one on.
Use a small flatblade screwdrive and a cloth to put under it. Gently pry the emblem up working your way around it. Be sure you have two new grommets to replace the old ones and some plumbers putty is sometimes used in the middle to help hold the emblem on. Just go slow and easy.
BigD is right again....when you get the new one you'll see the two places where the roundel holds on. Don't forget the cloth!!!! The screwdriver will very easily mar the paint if you don't go slow and easy with a cloth.
I have always used the screwdriver as the Roundels can be very hard to lift off at times. I may try the floss and or plastic next time, but I have never damaged my car using the screwdriver method, going nice and slow.
Layton, that is funny as hell man.... damn thats good.
Ever try a blowdryer to warm up the adhesive? works like a champ on emblems, insignias, decals, stripes, dealer emblems, dealer emblems, and definately stinkin' dealer emblems.
When my trunk emblem was stolen (the first time) the dealer told me he knows a guy who put magnets on the inside and removes the emblem when he parks in a suspect area. I'm assuming he got those flexible fridge type magnets and cut them to fit the indent on the car. Since the emblems are on so tight, he must cut the pegs short so they just grab a little to hold the emblem in place and the magnet does the rest of the work. Any thoughts on this?
