I just cleaned my engine. All the grese build up is gone but it is still not up to where i want it. What could I use to restore the shine on it?? I want to bring back the silver color etc.

thanks

the intake manifold of my '84 318i was horribly full of "clag" and other junk.. so I took a wire brush to it. It cleaned up quite nicely. Give it a try if your manifold isn't painted, and has a rough surface. I wouldn't recommend the brush for the valve cover since that's softer metal and will scratch. Or, perhaps a brushed metal look could work? *shrugs* lol.. all I know is it worked for the manifold.

Purple Power

I don't know if you have access to a cleaner called Purple Power or not, but it works well, especially for aluminum. I cleaned up my engine compartment with Purple Power and it looks brand new. It actually etches the surface of aluminum so you have a fresh new surface on the aluminum. DO NOT use it on polished aluminum surfaces, however, as it will turn the polished aluminum into a dull finish.

I also use it on the Edelbrock aluminum intake of my Camaro to keep it nice and clean looking.

I used Gunk engine brite and a wire brush on my valve cover before I painted it. Now I just have to clean the rest of the engine, my wrist hurts just thinking about it.
