Do a search on this forum for what you want to know, I have seen several threads about how often cars are washed/waxed.

As for me though, during the summer I wash it like every week. During the winter I get lazy in the cold and run it through the car wash every 2 or 3 weeks. I wax it usually twice a year, spring and fall.

Used to be every week. Got lazy so now it's whenever bird or tree crap gets on it. Since it's garaged and not driven too much right now, that could be 2 or 3 weeks.

I don't wax. I have CrystalGard and they claim it lasts up to 6 months. Being lazy, I'm going with that estimate.

Hey codex, how is CG working out for you? I heard good things about it.

Personally, I polish my car every 3 months, using Zaino auto polish. It lasts 6 months to a year, but for showroom shine, they recommend re-applying every 3 months. So I follow that schedule.

I wax it when the water stops beading nicely, usually a couple of months. But usually every other time I wash it, I use detailing spray. It's basically a watered down liquid wax that goes on easy and quick. Keeps it looking freshly waxed. FWIW I use Meguiars Gold family.

I used 5 star shine about 5 months ago, I'll wait until the water stops beading when I wash. I washed it last weekend and it still beads like crazy! Product said it could last up to 5 years? Only time will tell.

Well, I don't have too much time without it to compare it to, but it seems cool. Bird crap washes off more easily than on a car without it. I think I'll stick with it.

Each wax has a different longevity , some 2 months and some claim yearly application is OK. Like the guys said you can judge for yourself when you stop seeing water bead . I've learned alot of tips from the detaling board on this forum. Carnuba wax will become cloudy when you keep applying coats . Some carnuba waxes are cleaner waxes, check the bottle , and they strip old wax when applying the new coat . So every 2 weeks or every other car wash would be a waste of time and money for you . Find a good quality wax and apply one healthy coat and you 'll be happy .

Polymer waxes can be layered .Some guys like to put a coat of polymer over the carnuba to add some depth . Do some research and you'll be a waxing guru in no time..[thumb]

Sorry guys, been AFK for a while. Building another PC. Anyway it is true that you shouldn't wax your car too often, in the same way that you shouldn't wash your car too often. What i mean is that anytime that you drag a cloth, sponge or whatever across your paint, your risking scratches to your paint.

Generally speaking I follow a regimen of wash when it needs it, wax every two to three months, and a twice a year full detail with a good paint clenser, followed by a good glaxe then wax.
