How much to fix/replace the front bumper?

This morning as I was pulling into the dry cleaner's parking spot, I realized that I had parked too "forward" and the bottom of my front bumper was over that stone block that is usually at the front of a parking space... [boxface]

Needless to say, as I pulled out of the parking spot, I heard a scraping sound and I was like "Damn!". So I got out and notices my front left bumper corner was disloged and a piece of plastic broke off inside. Then I saw a large screw protruding out from the left side of the stone block which as I pulled out, took my left bumper with it!!! [mad]

So my question is this, can this be fixed or the entire bumper needs to be replaced? How much would it take to be fixed/replaced at the dealer and if it is "possible" to get it covered under warranty.

Sorry about the long post...btw, I have a 2004 330CI.

Without a picture it would be hard to tell.

But if a piece broke off, its most likely that you will have to replace the entire bumper. I would say the cost of paint and labor is going to run around $500.

I pulled mine off (worse than yours I think) in a similar way when my car was 2 months old. It broke the clips that hold the cover to the bumper on one side as well, so it couldn't be just snapped back on.

I took it to the dealer and they permanently epoxy'd it on. All told it was about $220 with NO PAINTING. I didn't need paint because it ripped off from the bottom.

BTW I got cought on a piece of rebar sticking out of a parking space concrete stop. Boy was I pissed. My jaw was on the ground when I got out and looked afterward. The thing was completely hanging off on the one side!!!

So you didn't have to replace the bumper? hmmm...I wonder if my dealer could do that...

I just got back from the dealership and they told me that the clip which attaches the bumper to the fender had broken off. They quoted me ~$400 bucks to take off the bumper and replace the clips....

Does that seem a bit high? Any other ways I can go about to fix it under $400?

The problem is I don't know if that is the only clip that needs to be replaced. The SA told me they will have to inspect it once they take off the bumper to see if anything else is damaged.

You could get all the clips and replace them all at a body shop, the clips are probably under 3 dollars and no matter how many there are, they will deffinately be cheaper then what the dealer quoted you.

OH my! Reading what happened to you is exactly what happened to me one week after I got my car. I thought the warranty would cover it but NO! I was so upset because when I pulled up to the cement parking block my car did not scrape at all then when I backed out I heard this loud noise. My bumper got caught on the steele pipe sticking up in the block. Took it to the dealership and they fixed it for nothing because I was so mad but they told me that it would have costs me $1,300.00 Yea right!

This is a CARBON COPY of what happened to me!!!! I totally cleared the cement thing, but the steel pipe was poking out about 2 inches. I didn't even try to recover the cost from the burger king where it happened because it was only $220 to fix.

Of course I never even bring the nose close to anything now.....what a dumb ass I was.
