How to replace a battery

Hi Guys,

The battery in my 2002 325i needs replacing. I don't do a lot of my own auto repairs, but I usually change my own battery. Before I start tearing things apart, I figured I ask a dumb question.

Where is the battery? [???1]

The BMW user manual was useless.

The battery is located in the trunk, on the passenger side. All you have to do is take out the center trunk mat/cover and the plastic panel that covers the battery. The battery is very expensive and will cost roughly $125 from a BMW dealer.

I had a Bosch battery on my old E36. The battery cost only a fraction of that and held like 6-7 years despite heavy use of air-conditioning and car hi-fi. If I were you I'd check prices before having the battery replaced by the dealer.
