Huper Optic on a Touring

I am going to get the wagon windows done soon and wanted to know if anyone has put Huper on their wagons?

I got quoted $500 for all windows, which is 7 windows vice the 5. I think most people are paying between $350 & $450 for their 5 windows.

I was thinking about going 30% all around, but I was reading Tom's post and the idea of going 50% on the front windows and 30% on the rest came about. What do you all think? 50 up front or 30 all around?

I am looking more for heat rejection vice privacy, so I am thinking 50% upfront might be the way to go. How does it look with the split tint? Do they reject the same amount of heat?

Thanks for any opinions.

I had on my 2004 325it 35% on all the rear windows, and 50% on the front windows. Hüper Optik is really hard to find here in Los Angeles. There is only 1 dealer in a 50 mile radius. I had my tinting done at our local tinting shop (which is under contract with 2 Mercedes dealers, 2 BMW dealers, Audi, Acura, Lexus and Subaru)...I paid $160 for the entire job. Your quote seems really, really high.

It's not high. Sounds about right actually. I have Huper. Wintech Tinting in Costa Mesa did mine, but they travel to LA County all the time. You can get them to come to you if you want. But yeah, I don't recall how many places did Huper in SoCal, but it wasn't much.

I have split tint. It's actually 70/30. The 70 is from V-Kool tho. I went with V-Kool cuz I looked at the Huper 50 and I didn't like it. For one, the heat rejection (going from Huper's chart online) wasn't enough to make the cost worth it. Secondly, it was dark enough so you obviously have tint. So, if a cop were to look for something to pull you over, the Huper is dark enough to be noticeable, yet it doesn't block as much heat as the 30%. If you wanna see how split tint looks, just click on my sig. It should have a link to my cardomain site. Page 2 is where I talk about my tints.

I did get quoted for $160 for all 7 windows, but it was from a shady shop, so I am not going there. The place I am going to use said he has a few examples of how it will look, so hopefully it will be represenative of what I want to do. My plan is to get it done this week.

I am pretty sure I am going with 50% up front and 30% everywhere else. I think the 305 all around would be too much.

I will post some pics when I get it done.

Jeremy,

I would pay alittle more and get a professional install in addition to higher quality stuff over the cheaper places. The price that you were quoted sounds like the going rate since you have two extra windows in the back, I got a good deal on mine since I did both my vehicles at the same time.

I was told that regardless of what percentage you go with, Huper Optiks should still offer you the same level of heat resistance.

I think the quote you got was a little high, but you should be getting what you pay for. ie: warrentied for so long, professional install. I think vehicles look a lot cleaner when the tint is slightly lighter in front than in back. The appearance really looks smooth, to go along with the smoth look of BMW's. Since, you want to go for heat rejection more than privacy, then it's all up to what brand of tint you go with. I'm no expert, but I think 30% up front is legal in all states and I would fade 30% to 20% to 5%. It errks me when this is quoted, but just my 0.02"!

I think $500 for this install is a good price. Most of the people that have had Huper installed on their cars are doing 5 windows or less for about $400 +/-$50, so for 7 windows I think it is a good price. The company that is going to do it has been doing it for 30 years, it comes with a lifetime warranty (Huper warranty's it not the installer). So I am happy with the price. Now to get the car to that appointment!

Looks good, how did the rear turn out? The only issues I have on mine are some blemishes around the dot matrix area.

Tuesday is the big day!! I finally got time to go over see what tint I wanted and set up an appointment! It also helps that the wife is out of town so I can park the car for a couple days after it is done to allow the tint to dry/cure. If I am not driving it I won't forget that I can't roll the windows down.

I decided to go with 40 all around. I think the 50 was a bit too light and the 30 a bit too dark. Since heat rejection was my main goal with privacy second I think it will be the perfect %.

I will post some pics as soon as I get it done!

I am stoked. Not so stoked about dropping the money, but stoked about finally getting tint on the windows!
