I just bought a 316i

Hi Just bought my first beamer, but feeling a little dispondent.

The drivers seat is all messed up and the seat adjustment handle snapped of when I adjusted the chair ( it had been welded on)

Is it hard replace seats.

I'm sure you could just replace that part. It shouldn't be all that hard replacing a seat if you want to, just unbolt it from the rail part and put the new one on. Don't quote me on it, but that should be all.
