In Service Date

Obviously this is a new guy question but I can't find the date my 2003 325i was put in service.

Today was my first full day driving the car and I just had a chance to look through all of the information provided by the seller, but I can't find the date. On other cars I've owned the date was listed in the warranty book on the inside of the cover, but the date is nowhere to be found.

This is my first purchase of a former lease car so maybe I'm missing something?

The dealer will know. Are there any service receipts from a dealership? My first date in service is on my service receipts. Otherwise, the next time you're at a dealer for service, they can tell you.

I bought the car from a small outfit that sells mostly BMW and Mercedes, usually those coming off a lease arangement. I have a BMW dealer in my town where I plan to go for service.

Will this local BMW dealer be able to tell me?

Yup. You hand them your key, they have this little reader that gets all the info of your car from that key. You can have them print out your car's history. Everything. In service date, what maintenance was performed and when, etc. Go to whatever local BMW dealer is near you.

No, I think he's looking for the date the car was "in use" by a customer, thereby starting any warranty periods.
