My '01 325i is due for Inspection 2 at 60k miles. I usually go to BMW of fairfax but they charge one arm and a leg for all they do, plus some other charges to cover 'miscelaneous' materials and the disposal of it. I paid a $1000 for a break service (replaced all 4 and fluid flush). Plus the customer service is not great, probably if I had a 5 or series it would be a different experience.

Does anybody know a good, reliable, honest and reasonable independent shop in Northern VA?

thanks

[thumb] Hey Dude, sorry to hear about your regrets with BMW of Fairfax. I live in Northern VA, just moved from Maryland to Alexandria. J&F Motors is in Arlington, VA on Four Mile Run (703) 671-7757, ask for Bob and tell them Zach sent you. They are kind of expensive but their service is beyond compare. I have also gone to Autobahn with is in Arlington just south of BMW of Arlington on Highway 1, they're around the corner from Collision Wagon. They're prices are more reasonable however they have a small staff. My favorite Independent is in Chesapeke, VA which is two and a half hours south. Sports & Imports, the prices are outstand ing and the service is the best I have ever used. I do all of my major repairs at Sports & Imports. I just had my tranny, A/C Compressor and Eibach Sports springs, shocks & strut set put on down there last friday. Sports & Imports labor rate is $75.00 and hour. J&F Motors is $103.00 and hour and Autobahn is $90.00 an hour. If you can take the time Michael at Sports & Imports is your best bet (757) 545-9394, tell him Zach sent you. He is charging me about $400.00 for the Schedule II on my 2000 323i. I hope this is helpful to you...

[thumb] No, can't say I have... I moved to the District in December 2003. I called the local BMWCCA and they provided me with the list of J&F Motors, Autobahn and Collision Wagon. I try to stick to the recommended BMWCCA independent shops because usually the shop owners are club members and sometimes give discounts to club members.[driving2]
