my car seems to be different from the 330i and the 330ci for installing the headlights, theres nothing that u push w/ the screwdriver to pop the headlights. does anybody w/ a zhp know how to take their headlights out?i wonder why that would be different though [???1]

keep us updated. The sedans got facelifted in the 2003 model year and I believe those two sites were for the older cars. I didn't think it would be too different so I posted the links b/c I figured it would help you out on most of the steps.

ya the zhp i guess is different than the links u sent me (or at least my car is different, not sure if its a year thing though) but for mine u need a philips not a flat-end screwdriver. i went back and took a picture if u wanna see what mine looks like as opposed to the websites u sent me.

You don't need to remove that big black plastic thing. You just need to remove that little round access hole cover that you can see in your photo that's above the red arrow. That, and pull back the trunk liner, and you should be able to access all the nuts.

Be careful not to lose the nuts! Since you won't be able to reach all of them with your fingers, I would suggest placing some masking tape inside your socket when you remove the hard-to-reach nuts, which will create a tight fit so the nut stays inside the socket once it's removed.

thanks ya i figured that out but turns out that they sent me bad rear lights because they don't fit onto the inside light that connects to it. so i'm gonna call them back and explain they sent a bad one and hopefully they'll let me return it for a good set.

Wait a sec---before you call them---are you saying that you are unable to screw the "bulb carrier" into the lens? If so, this is common and there's an easy fix. If you take a look at the lens, there are some plastic spikes that protrude from the lens which are supposed to fit into holes in the bulb carrier. For some reason, one of the spikes on the Euro lens is in a different location and does not fit into the U.S. spec'd bulb carrier. You just have to look at it, see which of the two spikes is causing the problem, and snip off the problem spike.

theres 2 spikes and it seems that bekkers cut off the wrong one...do u think i should just cut off the other one and leave the one that is supposed to be long (that they cut) there...the one that they cut goes into a hole on the bulb carrier, do u think i should send it back and get the ones where they didn't cut that piece or just leave it as it is?

I don't think that Bekkers cuts them at all---I think it's done in the factory as part of the manufacturing process. (If you look at your stock amber lenses, you will see the exact same thing---you can see where an "extra" spike was manually snipped off after the plastic piece was fabricated.) I think that this is just a difference between the Euro and US parts (though I'm not sure why they would do this) and this is a minor incompatibility between the Euro lens and the US bulb carrier.

Anyway, like I said, this is a common situation with the imported lenses (I ran into the same thing with the ones from bavauto and I know many others have run into this as well)---if you exchange it, you will likely get the exact same thing. Just snip the spike that's causing the problem---it serves no practical purpose anyway.
