Hey guys new here, I was wondering how much is insurance for a 19 year old on a 325i or a 330i - 2000 and up? I tried searching for it but could not find it. But anyways your help would be appreciated, I have no accidents, no tickets, perfect record so far..

Fairly expensive due to your age. Geography matters too. NJ is much more expensive than Montana for example. Best to just call a few of the big companies and ask. It's hard to compare on the internet cuz we're located all over the US and you need Jacksonville pricing.

I am an insurance agent - you are best served by calling an independent insurance agency in your town. They represent several companies and can get you the best price. Check the yellow pages.

It's so unfair that they can charge young guys more than girls. Sex discrimination! Imagine if they were allowed to charge old women more than men. There would be a march on Washington...(in strollers maybe).

Just keep a clean record and drive responsibly and you're premiums will stay lower than they could be but they do have price breaks as you get old, (BS).

not as bad as i through initially. cost me roughly the same as my old ride; a Celica GTS but a 2 dr model would have costed my 15% to 20% more.
Believe insurance may be the only industry where they can have 'Age' and 'Gender' in consideration when setting their price.

Can you attach yourself to your parents policy? It's usually cheaper cuz you get multiple car discounts and stuff like that.
that will probably happen, my dads 45 and he has a perfect driving record and no accidents, so it will probably be under him, and i will be either his f150 or my moms explorer

def get yourself on the policy w/ your parents. call around different places w/ your parents license number, make model of cars you own, and the one that you'll be getting. put yourself as the driver of the cheapest car, thus the lowest premium.
*edited other stuff out.

while i was insurance shopping for the, 330i w/ good driving record (no tix in 8 years no accident in 4.) as my only car was 1800 per six months. broad collision (which is more in michigan). i got myself attached to my parents policy, since my dad was the co-signer on the car, i pay lil over $600 edit: per 6 months with me as the primary driver. (i am also using american express insurance through costco, which is cheaper, but you get the picture.)

If you get a policy with your parents, make sure that you don't lie on the policy. If you are the primary driver, make sure that's what is indicated on the policy. If you fraudulently show your father as primary and you as an occassional driver, and you have a serious accident with several hundred thousand in liability, there could be problems. When there is a serious accident, your Insurance company will be highly motivated to conduct an investigation to determine if in fact, your father was primary. If your Insurance company can prove that you lied on your policy, they may not be liable for the claim.

(even better if your family has a beater that only has comp coverage.) if you are in college that's far enough away, but still in state, you may not even have to be on the policy. because that parking ticket or speeding ticket, accident could've happened on a week when you happen to take the car up to school, for moving, some appointment you had to goto far away in the middle of the week.. etc. [;)]

hehe, i think i was trying to write lil over $600 every 6 months or lil over $100 every month, and got it confused.. oops [:D]

sly, i was told that it is the car that is insured, and not the driver. as long as you and the car are on the policy, that's all that matters. (but it is not something i read explicitely, so i don't know if its totally correct.) and the case maybe different else where, since michigan has a no-fault insurance and above statement was for me, a michigan driver. but i see your point and since then i edited the said post. but saying its "fraudulant" could be taking it too far. a family can share the cars as necessary, and my folks and i used to swap cars all the time depending on what we had to do that day.

Hey Jae, actually it's the owner of the car that is insured. For example if a father buys a car for his son, and his son has a horrific accident and is at fault, the father is sued provided that the car title is in his name. Of course it will be the son who will be fined, imprisoned, etc. but the father will have to sweat out the law suit. That's why it's recommended that parents with teenage drivers get a $1M - $2M umbrella insurance policy that will protect them against catastrophic law suits.

wow, did not know that, or even heard anything like that here in michigan. i know insurance laws are different per state, so that maybe the case over in md.

i actually had a friend who got screwed after moving back from md (3 or so month stint), since it's fault insurance in md, he had that, but michigan is no fault, and someone ran into his car, literally days after he got back to michigan. and had to fix the car out of pocket. so he hasn't fixed it yet ^^;;

Jae: You are right. Laws do vary State to State, but I'd be surprised if property owner liability varies. I'm not a lawyer but in the few States in which I've lived the owner of a property is liable for any harm caused by that property and this liability extends beyond cars. For example if someone injurs themself while on your property, you are liable. Since winter is approaching, a typical example would be a person who slips and falls on a patch of ice on your property.

I'm certain that youir Insurance carrier can enlighten you on this issue.
