Hey guys/gals,
I'm looking for an intake kit for my car. Most of the kits that i've been seeing says that you can't use it on cars with HID/xenon. Does anyone have an intake kit on their car /w the xenon lights? I'm guessing the only difference would be a smaller intake pipe. There's a carbon fiber intake kit on bavauto.com, but it didn't specify if it could be used with xenon lights

I didn't think that Xenon or non-Xenon headlights would affect the air intake at all. Whenever I have checked out E46 3-series air intakes, I never see any specifications for Xenon or non-Xenon cars...that is just weird to me. [???1]

If you have xenon, you must re-locate the ballast as said above, no matter what the brand... a intake tube small enough to fit between the fender and the ballast would be worthless...
make sure you shop around, I got my kit (stainless and cone filter) for $50 off ebay, and I broke the seal on the package....

I have not relocated my xenon ballast yet, I am stationed overseas and cannot risk damaging or ......damn I say it..... break something..... nearest dealer is a week's boat ride away.
I will relocate it immediately when Im back home, and stick the filter behind the spoiler where it was meant to be...

I have removed the HUGE restricting factory airbox with the 1 1/2" opening for air and installed the cone onto the intake tube just in front of the MAP sensor... if fits perfectly, adds a ton of air, and sounds a little deeper throated.... I did make a bracket to brace and support the intake tube to the fender... the open element style cone is nice, plus the one I have is open on the end also...

good luck.

Leaving the filter exposed is not a good idea. You are actually losing HP because of the heat. Try to find a way to shield it from the engine heat.
