Interior Scuff Marks

Hello Friends,

I'm in NY and I finally broke down and drove the new car in the snow last week.
I must say that I'm really impressed with the xi in the snow and ice. The car felt like a tank and I just drove like I was on dry pavement and it didnt even slip once. Awesome. It was covered with salt and I froze my ass off hand-washing it on 30 degree weather.

Anyway...while detailing the interior, I noticed the obligtory scuff marks on the door speaker and the plastic area on the lower part of the seat. Ya know, from getting in and out with dress shoes, you get black scuff marks. They do not appear easy to get off. Any suggestions???

I used the hydrocarbon based Goof-Off on the lower door panel and the marks came right off. Just make sure you wipe the Goof-Off off afterward with a cleaning wipe (like armor all cleaning wipe) as it could damage it if left on a long time, so I've heard.

I also used the goof-off to remove the annoying stickers on the visors.

Don't know about the plastic on the seat though. It is made of a diff material than the door panel so maybe goof-off isn't a good idea there.

Thanks for the advice, Rocks. I want to get rid of those stupid stickers on the visors. When you were done, can you tell they were ever there?

xi guy, I have that same issue as you. What I do is, I take a bucket of water and soak a towel in the water. Then I squeeze the towel to ring out the excess water and then I just wipe the scuff marks away, and then I use a dry towel to remove the remaining water on the interior. Seems to work well enough while being pretty easy to do. [:)]
