Interior Trim Coming Off...

There is a felt-like trim that lines each driver/passenger window. It's something simple and easily taken for granted until it 'malfunctions.'

In my case, it's decided to part from its original factory bonding.

With a little CSI work of my own, it's been determined that driving 70mph+ with the windows down on a car that's 3+ years old, has taken its toll.

I've applied some double sided tape which has worked really well. However, there is one portion of the trim which resists to hold tight... I believe the Texas heat has played a significant role in this lack of marriage between trim and frame.

I'm honestly disappointed that this has occurred. I'm pretty sure this won't be covered on any warranty.

I'm open to any advice on my next suggested course of action.

A buddy of mine owns a 2002 330CI and the same thing happened. We live in Tucson, AZ. The heat is horrible. His trim starting coming apart as well and they covered it.

If it is still under warranty take it in. If the car is not built for TX heat then it should not be sold there! I had a problem with the finish on the center console peeling, I took it in and told BMW about it. At the guy said that the complete console had to be changed and would cost me a lot. I look at him and said I don't care how much it costs the car is under warranty and this is a defect - fix it! I was covered. That's want a Bumper to Bumper warranty is!

Definitely take it into BMW. My driver side lining came off this past summer. Car was just out of warranty, but my effective complaining about lack of quality worked. BMW fixed it on "good faith". It's a 10-min fix and I haven't had any problems since.

Good luck!

I had the same problem on my 01 325ci -- It happened at least 3 times. If your car is still under warranty they will fix it. The problem apparently is so common that the first time I took in for repair...they said the parts were on back order. Very annoying problem...but I must say it was the only issue I had with the car the 3 years I had it...could have been worse.
