Hello,

My 330ci has less than 5k miles on it and my oil light goes on intermittently. Also, i've noticed that my car occasionaly feels like its about to stall out when i'm idiling at a red light. Both problems are intermittent. Anyone have any thoughts? Time to make an appt at the dealer????

Thanks!

All on the same tank of gas? Could have been some funky fuel. If it happens frequently and continues after another tank, I'd make an appt to see if the CPU has anything to say...

oil levels are ok but i'm going to top off just to be sure. what brand oil should i use?
Don't add oil if the level is OK. The level would have to be at or slightly above the low mark for the yellow light to go on, and at or below the low mark for the red light to come on.

You may just have a bad sending unit and nothing else. If the light indications are happening often enough, the dealer should be able to recreate and solve the problem. I guarantee the first thing they will check out is the level (which is OK), then the electrical part (the sending unit, or sensor), then the actual oil pressure, then everything I have no idea about which is why I am sitting here typing and mechanics are working on cars.

It should have Castrol Synthetic in it. It's good to use the same oil, but not required. It's a REALLY good idea to top it off with a synthetic (if not Castrol, then Mobil 1, etc). In a pinch you can top it off with dinosaur oil and it'll be OK, but not desireable.
