I'm about to take delivery of a near new 320Cd (if you had to pay $1.51 a litre for petrol, you'd consider a diesel too, I bet) and I have noticed on this board odd references to iPod controls on the steering wheel.

Can anyone advise me on how to mate an iPod to a BMW? My main interest in music is 1920s/1930s jazz, and I have many thousands as cleaned up, good sounding MP3s, which I play through my home hi-fi.

To be able to play these same MP3s in the Car (no copyright problems, for one thing) might persuade me to buy an iPod. The next time I am in the USA, perhaps...

You buy the iPod kit from your dealer. Installing it yourself would be cheaper. Search for instructions on how to install a CD changer. It's pretty similar.

The alternative is to jus tbuy something like the iTrip. It transmits the iPod's signal through FM so you just tune your radio to a particular station and you hear what's comign out of your iPod. Not very elegant tho. Well, the iPod kit isn't all htat elegant either, but it's better than the FM radio transmitter.

And don't worry about us thinking badly of you getting a diesel. We're quite aware that on the low end, the diesels have a ton of power. I'd like a 330cid myself. Even moreso now that gas is like $3/gallon.

Even if diesel was as expensive as gas, I would still choose a 330d. Think of it; 204 hp and 410 Nm (from 1500 rpm on.....) only disadvantage is the small turbolag
