iPod installed? I have a question..

I know that you cannot have the multi-cd changer AND the iPod and I know about the other limitations(5 playlist, no track name displayed, etc).

What I do not know is that, if you have the in-dash CD player(single CD), can you use this AND the iPod? If so, is there another option when you hit MODE that appears?

Meaning will it cycle through 3 choices now? iPod, CD and Radio??

If you put in a CD, will it automatically change to CD mode?

Guess that is more than 1 question. Just wondering since NO BMW dealers here in MI can answer any questions about them.

Thanks.

It doesn't make sense that you cannot have both the 6 CD changer and the IPOD module installed. I have the 6 CD changer and the single CD player behind the navigation screen. The onboard computer clearly shows the distinction between the single CD, the 6 CD changer and the radio. Three distinct "choices" if you will. The IPOD would just be another menu choice. At least, that's the impression I got from the flyer BMW sent me for the IPOD. Heck, I have a pink mini ENGRAVED IPOD on order from Apple.com, based on what the flyer stated.
It already cycles from CD, 6 CD, radio and incoming (through the steering wheel) phone calls......... what conflict could there possibly *be* ?
Would you be inclined to share your source(s)? I'm really baffled by the possibility.

If the "CD" and "Changer" were two different options before, the "CD" and (iPod) "Changer" options should both be available. That would be my guess.

Though I don't own a newer BMW, just an old one and another car, so it IS a guess.

The Single CD player -- when you hit the mode button will cycle through: CD, Radio, and Changer (if connected). -- I don't have a changer, but I have XM radio connected through the CD Changer harness -- when it goes to that option the screen says CD 1-99 -- as if I had a changer connected.

I wonder if I can still hook up the aux input when I have the Changer connection utilized?

My understanding is that the Ipod sits connected as the changer, so getting to it would be the same, cycle through the mode buttons. It replaces the Changer if you have one installed, or it acts as one if you don't.

it says it's not available for vehicles with navigation, satelite, or Cd changer. The changer can be removed to install the ipod.

I have the in-dash cd and the ipod. I used the aux input option and jacked my ipod directly into the head unit using a modified SLIK attachment. Hardwired the elec. to the console and wired the output into the aux input. No steering wheel control or 'track no.' but works and sounds great. I would assume the changer acts as a separate input?

I have had an adapter on back order for a few weeks now and just called the dealer to find out how much longer. He said Apple has stopped shipping due to a problem and that they have 1000 on back order with no idea when. Anyone else heard this?

"CDC 1-99" indicates you are in the auxiliary input mode on your blitzsafe. This is always displayed (in CDC mode) in your case because you don't have a CD-changer also connected to your blitzsafe. If you connected a changer into your blitzsafe, you could toggle between it and XM using your up/down button. Sound right?

Also I think the aux input connection is independent of all this. If you (or I) were to connect up the aux harness behind the head unit, we would get yet another mode (radio, in-dash CD, CDC, AUX) right? Is that where the AUX shows up, in the modes?

YES, BMWROCKS, I think you are right about the blitzsafe with Changer. In fact, they sell another version of my Blitzsafe interface that allows you to hook up your changer along with your XM reciever, that way you can have both. It doesn't give you an addition MODE on your deck, but somehow it allows you to toggle between the changer and the XM. --

And if bgonline is right about the aux input-- I guess I can get the IPOD adapter --Cool! Thanks guys!
