I just had the IPOD installed lask week. While there are some minor issues; I like it alot and would do it again.

Positives:
-Thousands of songs at your finger tips
-No cords, remotes, etc to clutter up your interior, installed in glove box
-Control through your stereo head unit.
-Easy install with no additional costs other than the IPOD and dealer kit.

Negatives:
-No information displayed on the head unit, i.e., song title, artist, album, etc.

Finding the song you want will take some getting used. But you will have some idea about what playlist it is in so you can narrow it down pretty well. Or you can have a printed list in your car if you really need to find something. Or you can put the whole thing on random and listen to thousand of your favorite songs and be suprised at whats on next.

Hope this helps

Great info !

I have the Phat-box with voice prompts for the song-artist-genre etc.. and think I will just stay with it for now.

Phatbox negative: it does not have a music-download site that is fully compatible with it, the software is really set-up to rip from CD's. I hope Phatnoise inc. is working on getting a music site that is fully compatible....soon.

Gents,

I love my iPod! It sounds AWESOME on my ZHP's HK-12 speaker system. I maxed out the 40gbs this past weekend! I'm buying another 40gb iPod this weekend. I mostly "rip" my CDs at a high bit rate (Apple Lossless). Some may say it's stupid to use up so much space, but I do hear the difference at the lower rip rates. I cannot hear any difference verus CD with the lossless encoded music. Another iPod advantage: my car stays a lot cleaner without all those jewel cases and CD folders on the floor or in the dash!

Enjoy!

I have my iPod installed in my car and think it's fantastic. I got the Dension IceLink because I wanted to be able to use the iPod interface to select particular songs, yet still be able to skip tracks using the steering wheel controls. I also like how it turns on/off the iPod automatically. I use a Belkin TuneDok in my cup holder for it.

I like mine a lot, and echo the above pluses and minuses exactly. I hate that I can't see song info or select songs on head unit, but enjoy putting it on random and seeing what song comes up next. Overall sound quality is great.

I'd suggest getting an Alpine head unit and the ipod adapter. Same if not better sound, you can control the ipod through the head unit, the info on the ipod displays on the head unit, and it is compatible with any car. Mine is on order right now, but I already have the headunit installed and it looks/sounds great.
