My 2001 330ci has 53,000 miles on it and yesterday my parents and I were discussing about trading it in for a new one. So my dad and I went to the dealership and I saw a 2004 M3 Black on Black with every option on it and the car was 52k, a little steep for me because I have to pony up some dough to buy the car plus insurance payments, but it is HOT!!!!!! I am considering putting myself in debt for this car, hahaha no I am really not! But anyway my father being the business guy he is tried to negotiate a deal with the salesman that he has bought 3 other cars from in the past at this one BMW dealership. The guy was a total idiot and was not willing to even give my dad any kind of deal what so ever! My father even offered to pay it in cash but the salesman was not very willing. After we left I tried to explain to my dad that it is a M3 and they don't offer many deals on them because of there limited number. Later that day my dad went to another dealership that he has never dealt with before and they were willing to give him 5 grand off a 2004 M3. So, was it messed up that the first dealership didn't hook us up??? I thought it was shady but in a way I didn't because if BMW doesn't sell it to us the next person in the door will probably buy it at full price!

I dont think its messed up, I think they need a new Sales Manager.[hihi] Pretty dumb to let a loyal customer walk if you ask me.

Yea that is what my father said. He said they will never see another dollar of his money. When he went back to Mercedes to trade in his car, they gave him 12,000 off the price because he was a returning customer, paid in cash, the car was a left over from 2002 and had a little tiny scratch in the bumper! Plus they gave him a $5,000 gift certificate that is good forever! BMW is a little more retarded that way....

I agree with Tom. Apparently, in this case, profit was more important than customer loyalty. I remember what the sales manager at my dealership told me - the car is worth what the customer is willing to pay for it. They had a Z8 in the showroom the other day with a MSRP of $139K+. Don't expect much negotiating there, unless it sits around too long.

The turn-over rate in salesmen is so high nowadays, a lot of dealers aren't concerned with building a lasting relationship - they want revenue, and they don't want any questions. It's almost as if they expect you to walk in the door - run your credit before they even waste their time speaking to you - then sign on the dotted line & drive away.

Think I'll pass... [thumb]

Go somewhere that not only makes you feel welcome, but gives you a good deal - you can buy a car for sticker price anywhere - I promise. [:)] Glad to hear the second trip was more successful...

I'll just drive the new M3 to them and show them hey you missed this sale cause of your dump ass saleman and plus I ain't coming back to you guy anymore. Then, you should just beat the sh*t out of the saleman that won't hook u up. hahahaha.

I know, my aunt went to buy a x5 from the same dealership and the day she went to get it they wouldnt throw in the cd player for a discounted price so she ripped up the check walked out the door and bought a Mercedes from the dealership across the street! They were chasing her through the parking lot!

Agreed, way too many salesmen are too interested in making maximum profit now...they just don't care about customer relationships. But you really can't blame them, business is business. That dealership knows they can find some guy willing to pay MSRP for that 2004 M3....glad to hear your dad isn't that kind of guy. Looks like the next dealership you went to was more willing to work with you. [:D]

[rofl] That's the way to go. If she bought an ML or E class, may it be in the minority and never suffer any problems.

Oh, and yes, that was VERY messed up. 3 previous cars? I woulda driven right back, parked it in a conspicuous spot (with the other dealer's license plate paper and frame) and walked in to the parts department to "browse" and leave it there for a while.

Damn, $52k for a 04 M3! What price to begin with! The local dealer where I am has a silver 03 M3 all options for $63k. That is some markup or what. I know region dictates price, but man what a diff.[8]

That is sad... To not give a loyal customer a discount if he is willing to pay in cash is rude. Business is business though, and if I could make 52k or less than that, the decision would not be hard.

Oh hell yeah, I know business is business, I gotta eat too! But my father was far beyond annoyed when they wouldn't hook him up with a deal. Matter of fact the salesman called yesterday from the original dealership and wanted my dad to stop back in so they can talk but my father told the guy to take a long walk off a short pier, that is the easier way of putting it! My dad is Italian so when he gets pissed basically stay out of his way! I just thought it was a little f**ked up that BMW didn't hook him up! He has and always will swear by Mercedes sales and service, they basically kiss your feet when you walk in there! His salesman from MB still calls once in a while to see how his car is doing and if he is happy! I don't know, life works in f**ked up ways! [fake]

LoMo,

Did the salesmen even pretend to talk to his sales manager to see if they can move on the price?? Usually if they aren't willing to budge they go to the back and have a fake conversation and come back and say they can't move on the price. Anyways, if i was in ur position i woulda skipped over the jackass salesman and gone straight to a manager. If u guys have bought 3 previous cars from them, i find it really hard to believe they wouldn't give u any kind of deal. Anyways, good luck with the new dealer.

The sales manager didn't want to hear it! My father did speak to him and the manager was worse than the salesman. It is just poor business and the sales manager was new so he really didn't care about our history with the dealership! The manager also said that we weren't in the computers for buying three cars with them, that is when my dad flipped and we left.

That's so expected of the dealership to call you back and have them come in...they probably were ready to give your dad a better price, but it probably not much better. It's good that your dad flipped them off. Did he tell them that he took his business to another dealership? Even though that dealership can sell that M3 at MSRP, they are more than willing to make a bit of a deal as they really do just want to sell the car. This time they just pushed their luck and they lost...bad for them, good for you. [thumb]

My dad is still contemplating on if he wants to purchase the car or not. The dealership knows that they have lost a customer for good! It is unfortunate but whatever.
