Dude even though I'd be a hipocrite if I said software piracy was terrible, I do think buying something like that is pretty dumb. Jim Conforti is one of the best bmw tuners around and he wont be able to continue producing new chips if this happens.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, he has exited the BMW business all together. He now has a Z06 or something.

Well... I exageraten on saying that its a clone, but there are people that have owned and tested both and they said there are many similarities in the programing and performance offered. Thats why I said it's a "clone" even though there is plobably no evidence supporting that it's an exact replica.

It is, nobody will take the countless weeks to reverse-engineer an ECU program and make it better. It takes all of a few seconds to make a copy...

Its easy to copy an EEprom. The bummer is that someone on ebay could copy just any old chip, and then sell it saying its a copied chip Dinan, or AC SChnitzer or JC. SO you really dont know what chip your getting. But I am willing to bet that all the aftermarket ECU chips offer about the same power, they are probably identical(or really close to it) programs if you were to compare the software.

My car has a chip but I dont know what it is. Came with the car. Probably was put in years ago, so I might have gotten lucky and have a good chip it in. I know the 325's are faster and all.... but with that chip my ETA will still lay rubber. Later

Okay okay so an engine worth about 5 cases of beer [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

ldzpstnr different chips make a huge difference, going from a dinan chip to a conforti or Mark D. (EAT chip, from Dsylvia Tech) will have a noticeable gain. Unfortunately dinan didn't spend much time with the M20/M30, but I really don't blame them (about the M20 at least.)
