aloha everybody, I was talking with the parts guy at my local dealership and left alittle puzzled . he's definately up on his upgrades and mods by Dinan but says i can only get about 20 more horses out of my 325Ci ..so forget that .I had alot of ideas for my new baby but with all the mods it still fall short of the bigger 3.5 ltr 330i at 220 (est) Hp.

so now i know why not alot of people don't put alot of engine upgrades on their 325's . I'm sure you guys now all of this all ready but it came as a surprise to me . $2,000 plus with the cold air intake and exhaust and downloads...and still not more than a stock 330..

any thoughts guys ?

umm, yeah, with your basic air filter/exhaust/chip, you're only gonna get about 20hp or so. You're driving a finely tuned automobile so these simple tricks aren't gonna be able to squeeze out more than what BMW already has. Generally, the good manufacturers have struck what they think is the optimal balance of performance vs. luxury that will please the most people.

One easy way to bump hp over a 330 is a supercharger. But that costs at least $5K. That's why anytime speed is mentioned in a car mag, they use at least the 330. The 325 is no speed demon, even if it has all of the other good bmw qualities.

Thats the downside of owning a BMW, mods don't come cheaply. You can always save a few more grand and purchase a SC system.

Yeah, your best bet is a supercharger, if you want massive hp. Just follow the rule of thumb to upgrade your car's engine: air intake, exhaust, and ECU chip. I suggest mix-and-matching parts from different companies. Such as an ASE Chips ECU (+13hp, +12 torque), AEM Cold Air Intake, and Remus exhaust. I don't know how much the air intake and exhaust will help statistically, they will provide quicker response, less back-pressure, and a deeper, more audible, engine note. [:D]

you guys are 100 % right . now when i talk about 325 mods it'll bea trade-in w/ a good down for a 330 . Now the biggest problem is trying to keep my mileage down. ....Yeah right !..I'm totally happy with my 325 , its just that when I get a new car I immediately start daydreaming about mods..This Island is too small anyway ..
