Anyone have one installed in a 330 or if anyone would be able to tell me if there is a noticable improvement if i was to get one. I would love to have a cold air intake but at the moment this seems like a reasonable cost upgrade.
Thanks

i have one on my 03' 325i and i noticed a small but noticeable difference ...

i would assume you will experience the same results

and also ... some people will try and convince you that K&N's let in too much dirt because the increased air flow ... dont believe them ... they are perfectly safe ...

i believe it is a great upgrade for the money ... considering my MPG increased to 31.1 from 29.5

so then ben how does KN manage to let more air in w/out the dust/dirt?
more air, bigger holes, bigger holes, more dirt. simple.

but if u keep it clean u should be alright with just a drop in filter.

bahnstormer...

i believe this is one of those issues ... ya know kinda like Chevy vs. Ford ... however

ive talked to a friend of mine (who has a PhD in engineering) and he believes that structure of a K&N filter is more efficent (when compared to stock paper filters) ...

therefore it can have larger holes (to have better air flow) yet trap the same amount of dirt ...

if anything i will agree that it may let in a little more dirt but bahnstormer you must admit that the amount in (compared to a paper filter) is not important

perhaps it won't effect the engine's life or performance. the only reason i mention it
is i know a guy that races off-road trucks, he uses KN filters and when he rebuild engine after a race they are significant'y Fed up...now i know that's extreme, but he rebuils every few races, i'm thinking long run, 75,000 miles with a KN filter might lead to problems...

if its a lease thouh....

eh just opinions =]

Its not bigger holes and so doesn't let in dirt at all. its a larger surface area. most filters are round or cone shaped. the filters that give more power (more/higher air flow) are either physically larger or are ridged. by putting in ridges it increases the surface area of the filter and lets in more air without increasing the chance of dirt getting through.

If you still don't think it gives more power fine. I'll use them and have that slight edge over the non-belivers.

i agree K&N's help with the power ...

and i forgot to mention increased surface area ... thanks [thumb]
