Key FOB range question.

Hey folks, I've got a 2005 325 and am wondering if it is possible to increase the range of the keyfob. I have to be fairly close to the car, within about 20 feet, before it will respond to commands.

I've seen many cars with ranges up to 50 to 100 feet. I know there are good reasons to have the range shorter, but sometimes its nice to have...

Is this a dealer adjustable thing? Anyone else feel the range is a bit short?

You can put an additional antenna in place. Not sure where it is on this model, but you want to match the type of metal used for the original 6 inch wire with one that maybe wraps up a pillar and to the roof. Even nuttier might be to try a roof mount antenna.
Also, weird but it works. Hold the fob to your chin. The moisture in your mouth allows the signal to use your spine as some sort of amplifier. I did not believe this either, but 9 times out of ten, it seems to work from very far away when I forget to lock the doors. I think humidity is a factor to some degree to allow the signal to vibrate the tiny particles that make up the air.
