Launching a 300ci and Chipping

Hoping someone can offer advice,

Firstly, I have had my 330ci for about 4 months and can't seem to effectively 'launch' the car from standstill without the cluch free wheeling. This seems to happen with or without the ASC (traction control) on or off. (although it is not so bad with traction control off). Is this a fault with the clutch? It only happens at launch and I experience no 'slipping' problems at any other time. The cars only done 30,000km.

Also, I was wanting feedback from anyone who has powerchipped their 330, is it worth the gain? Also, has anyone used Eibach springs?

Thanks heaps,

Jim.

You most likely have a clutch delay valve. It's a nasty bugger that will sure mess up your clutch engagement. Check out this link for more info and how to get rid of it.

Chipping 330's is pointless in my opinion. All you get is a remapped throttle response and a slightly higher redline - for the $$, not worth it. Suspension and brakes are the way to go.

Eibach's are great, though depends on what you want. Pro-kit is not that much different from the Sport setup. The car will ride a bit lower and have a slightly more responsive turn-in. Sportline maybe a bit too much of a drop, but a noticeable improvement in handling. Though the ride will be harsher as well, and you'll want to buy a set of sport shocks (Koni, Bilstein, etc) to match the lower ride height.

Then you can go with adjustable perches (a-la Ground Control) and run a custom spring. The springs are Motorsport type.

Also, consider a set of swaybars. A definite improvement in handling over stock. No more nasty bodyroll. In "Down Under" I believe Whiteline has a decent set available, besides Racing Dynamics or UUC (if they even have it there). [thumb]
