When I bought my used 2002 325I the dealer advertised it as having leather interior. (Mazda Dealer) I have since found out it is Leatherette. First of all what the hell is Leatherette? Do I clean and treat it with products made for leather or ,, Oh My GOD I'm going to say it,, Vinyl or Plastic cleaners. [xx(]

Leatherette is what was formally known as vinyl, nagahide, etc. It is of course much better quality than the old stuff, wears and looks better too. I had it in my 91 318is and never had a problem with it. I tell the Mazda dealer he owes me some refund money....or a years supply of vinyl cleaner.

I'd bug the Mazda dealer about it too. But, most people can't tell it's not leather tho. It's nice cuz it wears better than real leather. Still, you didn't get what was advertised.

I just use water to clean mine. Using leather cleaner is prolly a waste since the vinyl can't absorb any of the moisterizors. Vinyl cleaner makes it too shiny and slippery for me, so I just use water and maybe some simple green.
