Hi all. I am kinda debating leather vs. leatherette. I am wondering would leatherette give off a very distinctive nasty smell after a while (couple years)? Does anyone has any experience? Thanks

I've had a 318is for over 7 years with black leatherette. It has never given off any nasty smell (or any smell) over all that time. It has the advantage of being very durable. I've had several people comment on how my interior still looks like new. That said, I ordered my 330Ci with leather, but I would never recommend against leatherette. It holds up well and doesn't look cheap.

Everyone always says "nice leather" when they see my car. I should just let them believe it's leather, but I usually clue them in. You'll be happy with either one. If you decide to save the money and get leatherette, you won't be disappointed.

Leatherette

I love leathrette. Even after many years it looks stiil like new. No cracks or wrinkles. Leather looks terribble after years. When I get new BMW I will choose leathrette. Its the same like with shoes. Leather shoes gets wrinkled when you walk in it and they crack. Leathrette shoes are much more durable. I personaly like the interior look tight. I hate those leather wrinkles. At least BMW does The best leather but when I look at the american piece of shits interiors than I want to throw.[8]

Leathrette is the way to go![thumb]

I have leatherette. No regrets. Actually, considering how badly BMW's leather wears (least the newer ones), I'm glad I saved myself $1400. When I getting my car, I was dead set on getting leather since it's a luxury car, but once I compared the two side by side, I could hardly tell the difference. They didn't have the color combo I wanted in leather so I got the 'ette. Best choice I made.
