I guess it is about time for me to get a loaner. [clap]
I have owned my car for 3 years and every time I got only a car rental.

This time I got a X3. [bmwdance]

I notice that the gas consumtion is poor (>18mpg) [:(]
When you get a loaner, do you guys fill your loaner car with primium gas?
I am just asking since the gas price is high, and it is not my car. [rolleyes]

Heck no reg unleaded is good enough, you got the remember that most people who borrowed the car before you probably did the same. [:p]

My advisor also told me to bring the car back empty. [driving]

person shows one's true quality, when nobody is around watching. BMW can truly provide you w/ pride, but true pride is something you need to gain on your own.

I put reg unleaded in my own car. Does evry one put primium in your cars? I think it's a waist to put primium in the car. You have to remember in Europe it's hard to find fuel that is much more then 87 octain, so I don't know whey primium is called for.

I have to argue against using regular or sub standard gas, in most cases if you have to add gas it’s only a couple of gallons (less than a $1.00 difference in price). Remember one of us will probably end up owning these cars. I guess it’s just a respect issue with me.

I have heard regular gas once in a while wont hurt but extended use can cause problems

I put the proper gas in any BMW or rental car......of course some rentals only require regular but in a BMW, never ever would I use sub-standard gas......whether mine or someone elses' ...............isnt that sacrilegious??

Make sure that the detergents in the regular gas you use meet BMW's requirememnts. Otherwise the couple of dollars a tankful that you save may cost you the price of a valve job down the road.
Also didn't you buy a BMW because of its performance? Why would you use other than the recommended octaine? Granted that all new cars are equipped with a knock sensor that will retard the engine's timing to prevent knock, but by retarding the timing the engine's power is also reduced and possibly even the car's mpg.
