Hello everyone

My name is Tyson and I just bought my newest race car project for the 24 Hours of LeMons (www.24hoursoflemons.com). It's a 24 hour non stop enduro race where you have $500 to buy and build an entire race car (excluding saftey items).

The car I bought is a 1982 320i with a 5 speed transmission.
Paid $200 for it, it has no rust, runs great and is already stripped down and ready for a cage. It also has 2 leather seats in very good condition and good glass all around...I'm hoping I can sell the seats and glass to give me a full $500 budget to upgrade the car (selling items off car can only offset up to the purchase price).

The suspension on it right now is pretty decent, but I'd like something much stiffer. I have found some sources online but most of them are fairly expensive which is no an option for me. I'd like to get new performance sway bars and springs/shocks and poly bushings if the budget allows. Anyone know where I can pick them up for cheap?

Also, any tips for basic engine mods? I've got the 1.8, and if there's a cheap straight 6 that can easily be swapped in I'd be game for some info on that too.

Thanks

- Tyson

eBay, eBay, eBay!

Try bavauto.com for you suspension parts.
A six cylinder m20 should drop quite happily into the chassis of your e21 model though I'm not sure if the later series m20's will fit quite as easily, hopefully the other guys will chime in and let you know, do a search on google.
Peace and welcome.

Well i think he meant ebay for the seats. Suspension he said bavauto.com. Their springs should give you what you need for that race. I'm pretty sure the m20 should drop in okay, even later models.
