Loose Ignition?

I have a very heavy keychain (purchased from BMW)
There is nothing on it but the car key.
Recently, Ive noticed a "clicking" noise everytime the keychain swings.

There is what I would consider an "excessive" amount of play when the key is in the ignition.
Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it normal and I just never noticed it before?

Do you mean, play from the keychain, or play from the key in the ignition? When you are driving around (making turns, accelerating, braking), the keychain will dangle around a bit...it's just part of having a key chain.

The actual key seems to have excessive play.
