Loose Steering

In January the dealer replaced the front control arm bushings on my 2001. They also replaced the front rotors and pads and the rear pads. Finally they put four new Michelins on, replacing what was on there with same. When I got the car back I immediately noticed a dramatic change in the feel of the steering. The service manager took a second look at it and although he and the service guy agreed with my concerns trhey could not find anythng wrong and suggested that maybe once the new tires had some wear, things would return to normal. Well it is now March and I can still turn the steering wheel with my finger. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

I can turn my steering wheel with my fingers... Unless you have very weak fingers or are a woman I wouldn't be too concerned about finger-wheel turns... Maybe you can try and make them replace the whole steering rack... BTW why did you need control arm bushings? being a little gentler on the car with the bumps might help... Unless your're refering to bump-steer every 3 series BMW has that slightly, it's one of the 3 series quirks.

isnt' bump steer apparent in all cars w/ relatively fat tires?

and Dave, i wonder if what you were used to wasn't the correct setup, and the repair fixed the issue? i believe the steering is supposed to be light when slow and is supposed to get heavier as you pick up speed.
