Just picked up my long awaited 330ci Zhp in silver grey yesterday!
it was worth the wait, even though it almost killed me.
The only thing now is the break in period,......keeping it under 3000rpm sure is hard! i was told to do this for the first 1000km, is this enough?
anyways i hope to get the ipod mod from BMW once its available in july and tint my windows ever so slightly and then im done...... [cheers]
wil post pics.......soon i hope

first off, congrats!!

i think you can keep it under 4k for the first 1000 miles? or was it 1250.. hasn't even been a year, and feels sooo long ago..

you have to vary the RPM. and some say that going on a highway is a great way to do it, sans cruise control, but i think it's a pain in the butt to rev up and down while coasting at 70-80 mph.. keep it uner 100mph too ^^;;

btw, it's all in the manual. and really important: you also have to break in your tires, brakes, which takes about 300 miles, or first tank of gas. (somewhere around there anyway..)

Congrats! I believe the break in period should be for around 2000km(1200miles).

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Congrats!! It's an amazing car, and you'll love it! Mine is now 4.5 months / 10,000 miles (about 1000 track miles!), and I'm still falling more & more in love with it!

Read the Manual. Stay below 4500 to 1200 miles, easy on the brakes first 300 miles, vary RPM. By time the 1200 miles is up, your ears will be tuned to the sound for normal street driving, good RPM range. Then you can light it up and listen to it sing to the redline (first gear is scary!). Enjoy.

Congrats on the car. I got mine in February and it still makes my day- everyday. The greatest thing about the car is that there are few on the road. I spotted one last week and couldn't take my eyes off it. Then I starting thinking what an idiot I am because I'm sittin' in one!! The car truly is the sweetest thing.

Just realize that the whole iPod thing does not work with the CD changer. It's either the iPod, or the CD changer, and not both. Frankly, I'm pissed off about that because I was all ready to get the software and connect the ZHP with my iPod. (Glad I paid $550 for the CD changer...NOT!)

Have fun!

My 330i has under 700 miles and I floored it once for a second to 6000+ rpm and I took it to 5500rpm 4 times.... I also got it to 97-98 mph twice, (It creeps up there[:D]) hope I didn't damage anything. Otherwise I've kept it under 4000rpm.[paranoid]

Congrats on the new car! I'm still waiting on my Silver Gray 330Ci ZHP. It's on a really slow boat...

What options did you get?

I was not able to keep my 330 under the recommended limits for the entire breakin period. I tried but I lusted for the red line.
ps 9k miles later, and all is well.

Great choice. My Silver Gray 330ci ZHP is at the VPC right now and got there on July 3rd. Now the wait begins. I got gray leather, xenons, moonroof, bmw assist, silver cube, and nav. Gray vs. black was tough, but I saw the combinations on 330s and M3s side by side at my dealer and it was no comparison once you see them.

Congrats, but take 'er easy for the 1st 1,000

I JUST got mine last week: 330ci w PP Leather Black on Black.

This years tail light package is sweet, youll enjoy it.

The front end is as we used to say: very "Boss!"

the rest of what my mechanic said:
- easy does it (under 4500) for 1st thousand.
- NO hard breaking for 1st 300 miles
- nothing over 100 mph
- vary the rpms, but simple city driving does that.

Luv the rumble, look and performance of that new car!

Congrats!

Gary
