Lowering springs for 330xi

I've heard that lowering springs will create horrible negative camber and cause excessive tire wear. Is this true? I would like to get some good springs and get the stance on my Xi just sitting over a set of 19" rims and tires...any recommendations??? I love the look of the 3 series with the sport package on them and that's the look I want to achieve. Anyone ever use Bavarian Autosport springs before...they seem somewhat inexpensive. Thx!

Lower Springs will create negative camber, the more you drop the worse it is. Some of it can be dialed out, depends on how much drop. H&R makes OE Sport springs which drop a bit but camber can still be compensated.

Or spend bigger bux and install caster/camber plates on the front, and an adjustable lower trailing arm on the rear. Then you can dial it all out.

What would the set up you mentioned run as far as cost..ballpark estimate is fine?

Anyone have any idea or pictures of how bad the negative camber would be...I mean, are we talking extreme or could I get away with driving it like that for a about 2 months? What about coilovers, anyone had any luck with them?

What is the purpose of lowering a car? Seems aside from performance, you would damage the front bumper area as it hit the concrete when entering every driveway? Or are you not going that low?

Also, once a car is lowered, wouldn't potential buyers avoid a car where someone messed with the suspension?

It depends on which springs you choose. If you go with OE Sport springs, the drop will be mild and camber might be OK with just an alignment. It would be OK for a couple of months, but that is also a function of the tires and how much you drive.

If your goal is just to lower the car for the looks of the sport package, coilovers are NOT a good idea.

TRhe reason I want to lower it is not necessarily for looks at all...I do want the tighter, sportier suspension. It goes well with this car and I love how the "sport package" equipped E46's felt in the corners and while driving down the road. Secondary, is the fact that it looks great sitting over a set of 19's.

I have H&R coilovers for front and fixed H&R dampers for back. Matching springs. Just swap them in for summer and back to OEM for winter. Huge difference in handling/cornering. Sure, you have to be careful with curb transitions, but nothing in life is free . . .

Can you post pics of your setup? Maybe something that shows the camber. Sounds like a pain swapping every season...we don't get a lot of snow on the ground that actually sits on the roads, is that why you switch it?
