what brand and weight of engine oil is recommended for 1993 318i 1.8L unsure of m40?
I always use Valvoline-not sure if this motor needed syn, durablend, regular?

also other fluids-trans, rear diff, coolant, ect.

I need to change the oil and filter and service the rear diff. Will also be flushing the coolant system. Just got the car and wanting to do some maintenance so I can track it.

Thank you

That would be the M42 motor (unless you have a late 93 model?), which I had in a 91 318is long ago. My came from BMW filled with Mobil 1 10-40 (synthetic) . Do you have an auto or manual, I would assume a manual. I used Redline racing oil in my transmission and differential, both synthetics. Use nothing but BMW coolant!
