This just happened out of the blue. It is a 2000 323i... so definitely out of warranty. Car drove fine all week. Then this morning I find a HUGE puddle underneath the car.
I take off the underbody cover and notice that this nut is extremely loose (how did it even happen??)
There is ATF fluid everywhere!
So I tighten the bolt and fill up with ATF again... and drive it around the block. Sweeeet no leaks!
Then I'm getting ready to go out w/some friends. On the way there, I notice steering is really sluggish again so I instantly pull over. Yup, it's leaking again. I come straight home to take a look again, and yes, you guessed it, that same nut is loose again. Now I just tightened it up, filled it up w/ATF... and now it's just sitting there for now. I don't want to drive it unless I have to... which is probably when I need to bring it into the dealership to get fixed.
Any ideas what caused this to happen and why it's continually happening??
Also.. what exactly IS that threaded nut/bolt? Is it a separate nut that just tightens the tube with that? Or is the nut attached to the tube end? Or is it abolt attached to the tube end?
