Maximum wattage of the flashlight recharge socket?

Does anyone know the maximum wattage of the flashlight recharge socket? I am going to buy a BMW adapter (part # 82 11 0 004 073) and some other adapters for my electronics, such as laptop (70W). I was told that the wattage of the lighter socket is very limited and cannot handle 70W power.

I'd bet it's 200 watts at 12 volts...same as the cigarette lighter...but I don't have my Bently manual here (it's in my Dad's garage...sorry). Maybe someone else has theirs handy.

If you can find the fuse that powers that outlet, multiply the amperage of the fuse by 12 and you have the wattage at which the fuse will nominally blow. Keep things 25% or so under that value and you'll probably be okay.

(EDIT) Oops, nevermind. On the E36 at least, the charging socket shares a 10A fuse with quite a few things, some fairly important. That circuit isn't really expecting loads as high as 80W, and I would be afraid to go there.

It says on the part not to use anything more than 3A. Also, is there any difference between this socket and the lighter socket? My SA told me that they're different, and it's better off using the flashlight charge socket. And should I unplug everything after I shut the engine, since I kind of remember reading something like that "to avoid complete discharge, disconnect all the electronics after shutting off the engine"? Indeed, I once was charging my cell phone using the lighter socket while starting the engine, the cell phone's battery appears to be totally sucked up. I thought it was a defect charger.
