Is there any difference between the jet black and metallic black? Going down to my dealer in a few and I need to let him know what I want to do. Thanks
I have to agree with Tom, there is nare a trace of difference between the two except that Black Saphire Metallic is Metallic and Jet Black is a non-Metallic color. If you go to Bimmertoys.com and type roundels in the search window at the bottom of the window are different colored roundels to match your cars paint scheme. Both the colors that you are inquiring about appear there, however when you mouse from one to the other there is no discernable difference between them to the naked eye. That's my two and a half cents worth... Happy Motoring [driving2]
I like jet black a lot...we have it on our Z8. I think metallic black is a little bit easier (read a little bit) to maintain. The mica sparkles in the paint mask dust a bit better (and swirl marks) than jet black.
It really is a matter of taste. Jet black I think is more classic, and metallic black is a bit easier in maintaing, and a bit more flashy. Good Luck!!!
There is nothing like a newly waxed jet black surface -- Looks like glass if polished right. I have silver grey only because I don't have the time to keep it looking like glass -- I still swoon when a clean metallic black bimmer passes by. Go Jet Black!
If you put two cars side by side one JB the other MB, the JB looks so much darker. It makes the MB look dark gray. JB will look shinier and like someone said, classier, but its a PITA to keep clean. I wash mine at least once a week, sometimes 2x.
