Metallic noise after turning the car off?

Somewhere between 5 and 15 seconds after turning my car off I hear a metallic sound in the left rear around the exhaust. It sounds almost like the clink of a metal lid closing on metal. Anybody know what this could be? Thx

I agree with sfbae, its probably just your exhaust cooling.

You may be right but I'd feel better about it with some confirmations that others hear the same thing. It's a definite "ka-ching", and it seems to happen no matter how long or short I've been driving.

ka ching.....huh....well i don't know if your ka ching sounds like my metallic sound too, but i have one there. even after a short trip tp the gaz station it is there. when we are talking about the same sound, i would not bother myself.

It's probably your exhaust cooling, but it could be a hole somewhere in the piping. But then again, if it was a hole, you would hear the weird sound as soon as you turn off your car, not 5 to 15 seconds later...so yeah, it's probably just the exhaust cooling down.
