I am just curious about the status of these wonderfull e30 cars.

i have owned two, one was an 89 320i sedan. It either had the "sport" suspension or had a lowering kit as it was very low to the ground. If i recall correctly it had somewhere over 200000 km on the odo. The car was in great shape and the only problem i had was a cracked oil pan. I sold it when i moved...

The one i have now (with a gasket or head issue) is an 88 320i touring. this too has the "sport) suspension or was lowered as it is also like riding a luge on the autobahn. This one has les than 180000 km on the odo.

Bothe cars were in great shape (almost pristine especially for a vehicle approaching 20 yo). I am curious as to the condition and mileage of your BMW. not really limited to the e30 specificly but that is my fav.

If you would like, I can link you too many threads of my e30 which include rust cutting... Lots of rust cutting.

These cars are what you make them, if you look after them (clean, service) they will continue to look great and be a good car for the years to come.

Mine is in ok condition, ATM as it has no rust any more, and ive got about 240000km's on the clock

I've got 257,000kms on my cabrio, 260,000kms on my E34, and my "E30 parts car/winter beater/driveway queen/oldest car I have" has about 240,000kms.

E30 cabrio: Everything works except the rear defrost, but I don't use it anyways.

E34: Everything works except AC, but she's the winter car, so I don't care.

E30 parts car: Everything works, except the antenna doesn't go up/down.

Let's see some pics of your touring... I want an e30 or e34 touring so bad!!

ok here are some pics. I just picked this car up about a month ago. Aside form the coolant issue from the other thread it runs great. It has been protected on the under side against rust and so far as i can tell there is not rust. The suspension is good and the interior is in pretty good shape.

Happy looking.

I would love to see the process you went through with your rust cutting Too.

I looked at one a few years ago (same colour as yours) and the guy wanted $10,000CANAIDAN for a 1989... Nothing worked on it though - the rear wiper, the headlight wipers, the rear fog lights, the cargo net... basically everything that makes it a european car, didn't work.

does the pamphlet describe the trim options. I am trying to find out if my car just has the factory "sport" suspension or some aftermarket work. I think its factory as there is no markings on them like for eibach or hms.. and do all the e30 have all wheel disc breaks or drum disc... hmmm

Someone else will chime in on this one but, To my knowledge some e30's (believe it was the 4 cylinder e30's) had front disk and rear drum.

Dunno if it was a year model specific thing as my 1984 323i has disk brakes all around.

It was a fun car while i had it though.

There really are no trim options, other than putting on the 2" front splitter instead of the 1". http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BA73&mospid=47325&btnr=51_0650&hg=51&fg=15 (you have #1) You can change your steering wheel to an Mtechnik I or II, and you porbably have sport seats if it's a manual tranny. You already have fogs, elypsoid headlights, and a sunroof, so you're pretty much covered for options. I can't tell if you have adjustable headlights, but you don't have headlight washers or side markers... and I don't know about rear fogs.
Your suspensions can't be stock, no way. As for disc brakes, the only E30's to get drums here in North America were the old 318i's with the M10.
